Während meiner letzten Reise in die vereinigten arabischen Emirate durfte ich die Stadt Abu Dhabi kennenlernen und vor Ort in einem der schönsten und größten Hotelanlagen der Stadt unterkommen. Dem THE RITZ CARLTON ABU DHABI, GRAND CANAL.

Während meiner Zeit in Abu Dhabi war die Hotel und Villa-Tour der meist gefragteste Content auf meinem Instagramkanal. Heute folgt nun auch die lang ersehnte Hotel Review zum Nachlesen.

During my last trip to the United Arab Emirates, I was able to get to know the city of Abu Dhabi and stay in one of the most beautiful and largest hotel complexes in the city. The RITZ CARLTON ABU DHABI, GRAND CANAL. During my time in Abu Dhabi the Hotel and Villa Tour was the most requested content on my Instagram Channel. Today the long awaited Hotel Review follows.

IN GENERAL

Das RITZ-CARLTON ABU DHABI ist eines der größten und bekanntesten 5-Sterne Resorts in Abu Dhabi und besticht seine Gäste mit seinem eleganten Ambiete der europäisch angehauchten Archtitektur mit traditionell arabischen Elementen, dem großen Angebot an Aktivitäten, exzellentem Service sowie der gigantischen Weitläufigkeit.

Das 23 Hektar große Gelände ist Stadthotel, Strandresort, Gartenanlage, Badeparadies und Welnesstempel in einem und bietet neben 477 Suiten im Hauptgebäude auch 87 stilvolle, luxuröse Villen, für mehr Privatsphäre mit 24 Stunden Buttlerservice.

The RITZ-CARLTON ABU DHABI is one of the largest and most famous 5-star resorts in Abu Dhabi and impresses its guests with its elegant ambience of European-influenced architecture with traditional Arabic elements, the wide range of activities, excellent service and the gigantic spaciousness. The 23-hectare site is a city hotel, beach resort, gardens, bathing paradise and a temple of Welness all in one, offering 477 suites in the main building and 87 stylish, luxurious villas, for more privacy with 24-hour butler service.

LOCATION

Wie der Name des Resorts schon sagt, liegt das RITZ-CARLTON direkt am künstlich angelegten Kanal, welcher sich durch große Teile der Stadt zieht. Eher im "Inland" der Stadtgelegen, hat man zwar keine direkte Lage am Meer, auf den weißen Sandstrand muss man aber trotzdem nicht verzichten.

Das Hotel liegt ziemlich genau in der Mitte, zwischen Flughafen und Strand und ist daher sehr zentral gelegen. In beide Richtungen braucht man mit dem Taxi circa 20 Minuten.

Nicht nur der Kanal ist eine Besonderheit im Hotel, ebenfalls liegt das Wahrzeichen Abu Dhabis, die Sheikh Zayed Moschee etwa nur 200 Meterluftlinie entfernt und ist innerhalb weniger Minuten mit dem Hotel eigenen Shuttle zu erreichen.

Natürlich ist das RITZ nicht das einzige Luxushotel in dieser besonderen Lage. Rundherum haben sich weitere bekannte Resorts niedergelassen, wie das Fairmont oder das Shangrila. Man befindet sich hier also in bester Gesellschaft.

As the name of the resort suggests, the RITZ-CARLTON is located directly on the artificial canal that runs through large parts of the city. Rather in the "inland" of the city, there is no direct location at the sea, but nevertheless, one does not have to renounce the white sandy beach. The hotel is located pretty much in the middle, between the airport and the beach and is therefore very centrally located. In both directions it takes about 20 minutes by taxi. Not only the canal is a special feature of the hotel, but also the landmark of Abu Dhabi, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque is only 200 meters away and can be reached within a few minutes by the hotel's own shuttle. Of course the RITZ is not the only luxury hotel in this special location. Other well-known resorts have settled around it, such as the Fairmont or the Shangrila. Thus, one is here in best company.

FOOD

Eines der Stärken dieses 5 Sterne Resorts ist die ausgezeichnete Küche, beziehungsweise Küchen. Denn in dem Hotel gibt es nicht eins, nicht zwei, nicht drei...sondern gleich acht Restaurants, aus welchen man wählen kann. Die meisten Gäste im RITZ-CARLTON ABU DHABI buchen das Angebot der Halbpension. So genießt man das exzelltene Frühstücksbuffet im Hauptgebäude und hat dann die Wahl, ob man lieber Mittag- oder Abendessen in einem der im Angebot inkludierten Restaurants zu sich nehmen möchte.

Im Halbpensions-Angebot ist unter anderem das Steakhouse "The Forge", welches zu den besten Steakhäusern der Stadt gehört oder auch das "Li Jiang", welches Haute Cuisine aus Südostasien bietet und nebenbei einen atemberaubenden Blick auf die bei Nacht beleuchtete Sheikh Zayed Moschee bietet. Alle Restaurants bieten Abends ein Drei-Gänge Menü an, ebenfalls ist eine Reservierung erforderlich, welche man bequem per Telefon oder an der Rezeption tätigen kann.

Wie üblich in den vereinigten arabischen Emiraten, läd auch das RITZ Freitags zum Chefs Brunch ein und man kann so ganz bequem am späten Vormittag mit einem tollen Brunch in den Tag starten.

Neben dem sonst schon tollen Frühstücksbuffet wird hier dem ganzen noch die Krone aufgesetzt und Köstlichkeiten wie Lachs, Austern und Caviar serviert, während man sich mit einem Glas Champagner vom Frühstück direkt zum Lunch verführen lässt.

Zum Hotel gehört ebenfalls das "Venetian Village", ein Bereich am Kanal welcher der italienischen Metropole Venedig nachempfunden ist und ebenfalls einige Restaurants und Bars bietet. Dieser Bereich ist Abends ebenfalls für Nicht-Hotelgäste geöffnet und öffentlich zugänglich. Hotelgäste haben jedoch bei Reservierungen Vorrang.

One of the strengths of this 5 star resort is the excellent cuisine, or kitchens. Because in the hotel there is not one, not two, not three...but eight restaurants to choose from. Most guests at RITZ-CARLTON ABU DHABI book the half board offer. You can enjoy the excellent breakfast buffet in the main building and then choose whether you would prefer to have lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants included in the offer. The half board offer includes the steakhouse "The Forge", which is one of the best steakhouses in the city, or the "Li Jiang", which offers haute cuisine from Southeast Asia and also offers a breathtaking view of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, which is illuminated at night. All restaurants offer a three-course dinner menu in the evening, also a reservation is required, which can be made by phone or at the reception. As usual in the United Arab Emirates, the RITZ also invites you to its Chefs Brunch on Fridays, so you can start the day with a great brunch in the late morning. In addition to the already great breakfast buffet, the whole thing is crowned with delicacies such as salmon, oysters and caviar, while you can be tempted to have lunch with a glass of champagne from breakfast. The hotel also includes the "Venetian Village", an area along the canal which is modelled on the Italian metropolis of Venice and also offers several restaurants and bars. This area is also open in the evening for non-hotel guests and is open to the public. However, hotel guests have priority when making reservations.

BEACH & POOL

Obwohl das RITZ-CARLTON ABU DHABI sich nicht direkt in Strandlage befindet, muss man hier nicht auf den weißen Sandstrand verzichten, denn das Hotel hat einen weitläufigen Privatstrand, direkt am großen Kanal, welcher sich fast komplett einmal durch die Stadt schlängelt.

Ideal für Familien mit Kindern, hat man hier keine Wellen und Strömungen wie am offenen Meer, sondern einen entspannt vorbei fließenden Kanal und trotzdem hat man hier durch kleine Fische und angespühlte Muscheln das Gefühl am Meer zu sein.

Am Strand laden bequeme Liegen mit Sonnenschirm, sowie auch große Day-Beds zum Verweilen ein, während sich die Beach-Mitarbeiter sich um das Wohl der Gäste kümmern.

Wer die Zeit doch lieber am Pool verbringt hat die Möglichkeit sich im Garten oder direkt am Pool eine Liege zu nehmen und dort die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Neben dem sehr großen Hauptpool, gibt es noch einen Ruhepool für Gäste über 18 Jahren. Dieser liegt im Villen-Bereich, etwas versteckt in geschützer Lage, sodass man hier absolut relaxen kann.

An beiden Pools, sowie am Strand gibt es Bars mit kleinen Snacks, aber auch einige sich kümmernde Mitarbeiter, sowie Rettungsschwimmer.

Although the RITZ-CARLTON ABU DHABI is not located directly on the beach, you don't have to do without the white sandy beach here, because the hotel has a large private beach, directly on the large canal, which almost completely winds its way through the city. Ideal for families with children, there are no waves and currents as it is the case in the open sea but a relaxed channel that flows by and still one has the feeling to be at the sea due to the small fishes and washed up shells. On the beach, comfortable deckchairs with parasols as well as large day-beds invite you to relax, while the beach staff takes care of the guests' well-being. Those who prefer to spend their time at the pool have the possibility to take a sun bed in the garden or directly at the pool and let their soul dangle there. Beside the very big main pool, there is also a resting pool for guests over 18 years. This is located in the villa area, a little hidden in a protected location, so that one can absolutely relax here. At both pools, as also at the beach, there are bars with small snacks, but also some caring employees and lifeguards.

VILLA

Mein persönliches Highlight, neben dem guten Essen war natürlich unsere Villa.

Wir durften in einer 130 Quadratmeter großen Gartenvilla unterkommen, mit 2 Schlafzimmern und 3 Badezimmern, Wohn- & Essbreich mit separater Küche, sowie einer großen Terasse und einem Garten rund um die Villa.

Vom Masterbedroom mit Kingsize-Bett gelangt man direkt in das angrenzende Badezimmer, welches mit hochwertigsten Utensilien ausgetstattet ist und neben einer großen Regenwalddusche auch eine Badewanne und separate Toilette bietet.

Das zweite Schlafzimmer ist mit zwei Queensize-Betten ausgestattet und bietet ebenfalls ein baugleiches Badezimmer en Suite an.

Der großzügige Wohnbereich erstreckte sich über mehrere Sofas, einen Flatscreen, Leseecke mit Bücherregal und bequemen Sesseln, bis hin zum Esstisch an welchem 5 bis 6 Personen Platz finden. Direkt angrenzend findet man eine voll ausgestattete Küche, welche jedoch bei dem tollen Essen im Hotel kaum benutzt wurde und daher so gut wie neu erscheint.

Auf der Terasse findet man einen weiteren Essplatz, sowie bequeme Liegen, auf welchen man es sich in privater Atmosphäre bequem machen kann. Dies ist ebenfalls auch der optimale Platz für einen Sundowner-Drink, welcher vom Villa eigenen Buttler zubereitet wird, denn von hier aus hat man einen tollen Blick auf die Sheikh Zayed Moschee, hinter welcher Abends die Sonne im Horizont versinkt.

My personal highlight, besides the good food was of course our villa. We were allowed to stay in a 130 square meter garden villa, with 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, living & dining area with separate kitchen, as well as a large terrace and a garden around the villa. From the master bedroom with king-size bed you can directly access the adjacent bathroom, which is equipped with high quality utensils and offers a large rainforest shower, a bathtub and a separate toilet. The second bedroom is equipped with two queen-size beds and also offers an identical bathroom en suite. The spacious living area extends over several sofas, a flat screen, reading corner with bookcase and comfortable armchairs, up to the dining table at which 5 to 6 people can be seated. Directly adjacent to the living area is a fully equipped kitchen, which was hardly used during the great food in the hotel and therefore appears as good as new. On the terrace there is a further dining place as also comfortable loungers on which one can make oneself comfortable in a private atmosphere. This is also the perfect place for a sundowner drink, which is prepared by the villa's own butler, because from here you have a great view of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, behind which the sun sinks into the horizon in the evening.

FAZIT

Abu Dhabi stellte ich mir groß, pompös und luxurös vor. Weitläufig, modern und zu gleich auch traditionell.

Dynamisch, aufbrausend aber auch irgendwie entspannter und entschleunigt, im Vergleich zu Dubai.

Kulturell, herzlich und vor allem super heiß.

Genau so habe ich die Stadt und vor allem auch das RITZ erlebt. Einhundert Prozent echt und authentisch.

Nach vier tollen Tagen in unserer Villa im RITZ-CARLTON GRAND CANAL in Abu Dhabi, an welchen wir kulinarisch und geistig verwöhnt wurden, kann ich sagen, dass ich es mir nicht schöner hätte wünschen können. Meine Erwartungen wurden mehr als übertroffen und ich bin sprachlos über solch eine Hotelanlage, mit all den Angeboten, dem tollen Service und all den herzlichen Mitarbeitern.

Sollte ich wieder nach Abu Dhabi kommen, werde ich definitiv im Ritz vorbei kommen, sei es für eine Übernachtung oder dem Chefs Brunch an einem Freitag Vormittag.

I imagined Abu Dhabi to be big, pompous and luxurious. Spacious, modern and at the same time traditional. Dynamic, quick-tempered but also somehow more relaxed and decelerated compared to Dubai. Cultural, warm and above all super hot. This is exactly how I experienced the city and especially the RITZ. One hundred percent real and authentic. After four great days in our villa at the RITZ-CARLTON GRAND CANAL in Abu Dhabi, during which we were spoiled both culinary and mentally, I can say that I couldn't have wished for anything more beautiful. My expectations were more than exceeded and I am speechless about such a hotel complex, with all the offers, the great service and all the warm and friendly staff. Should I come back to Abu Dhabi, I will definitely stop by the Ritz, be it for an overnight stay or the bosses brunch on a Friday morning.
